CIF-SS Boys Tournament Info:
Dates, Times, Bracket Info--(Feb. 16, 2003)

We're not going to be able to attend the release of the brackets for the first time in years, but we'll be posting the brackets later tonight or first thing tomorrow, schedules and weather (we're in New Hampshire this weekend) permitting. 

In the meantime, since a lot of people are confused about what is happening with the CIF-SS brackets and the schedules of games which will be upcoming, the CIF-SS has issued a media release which answers some of the questions.   Here are some excerpts from that media release (with the stuff intended just for media folks redacted):

BOYS BASKETBALL

OFFICIAL TITLING: CIF Southern Section-Toyota Boys Basketball Playoffs and Championships

DIVISIONS: I-AA, I-A, II-AA, II-A, III-AA, III-A, IV-AA, IV-A, V-AA, V-A

CREDENTIALS: Regular CIF-SS Press and Photo Credentials shall be honored at all playoff contests, except championship events held at Gersten Pavilion at Loyola Marymount on Friday, March 7 and the Arrowhead Pond on Saturday, March 8.

PAIRINGS ANNOUNCEMENTS: Pairings for the 2002-2003 CIF Southern Section-Toyota Boys Basketball Playoffs will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003.

PLAYOFF DATES, SITES: (All games at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise mutually agreed upon)

32-TEAM BRACKET WITH BYES: First round: Wed., Feb. 19; Second round: Fri., Feb. 21; Quarterfinals: Tues, Feb. 25; Semifinals: Fri., Feb. 28.

32-TEAM BRACKET WITHOUT BYES: Wild Card round (if necessary): Wed., Feb. 19; First round: Fri., Feb 21; Second round: Tue., Feb. 25; Quarterfinals: Fri., Feb. 28; Semifinals: Tue., Mar. 4.

16-TEAM BRACKET WITH BYES: First round: Wed., Feb. 19; Quarterfinals: Fri., Feb. 21; Semifinals: Fri., Feb. 28.

16-TEAM BRACKET WITHOUT BYES: Wild Card round (if necessary): Wed., Feb 19; First round: Fri., Feb. 21; Quarterfinals: Tue., Feb 25; Semifinals: Fri., Feb. 28.
