Here's the bracket updated with tonight's schedules.   If you're interested in finding out about how the teams got here, we've collected some scores and details from the second round games which were played on Tuesday (first round scores and details are also noted too.  We've already posted the scores and details from the wild card games so those aren't repeated here).  Here's the bracket:

First Round Scores and Details (in bracket order)-- Games Played Friday, February 21:

Mater Dei 96, Gahr 50 --Harrison Schaen led top-seeded Mater Dei (27-2) with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while teammates Wesley Washington and D.J. Strawberry each contributed 18 points. Gahr finishes 12-17.

Wilson 49, Garden Grove 45--

Elsinore 83, La Quinta 45 --Scotty James scored 20 points and Maurice Morris added 19 points to lead host Elsinore (19-7) over La Quinta (8-18). La Quinta's Jerry Lopez scored 20 points.

Victor Valley 64, Serrano 53 --Kimo Brown had 23 points to lead No. 8 seed and host Victor Valley (19-7). Casey Moen scored 24 points to pace Serrano (12-13).

Redondo 76, Don Bosco 56 --Wendell White had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Ellison scored 19 points for visiting Redondo (16-11). Damian Reyes scored 23 points for Don Bosco (17-10).

Cypress 58, South TGorrance 40--

Dominguez 66, West Torrance 57 --Three players scored 14 points for Dominguez (14-6).

Whittier 63, Charter Oak 55 --Michael Hernandez scored 27 points and Eric Woodward added 15 points to lead host Whittier (24-3) over Charter Oak (13-11).

Brea Olinda 64, Rancho Verde 53 --Evan Moore collected 29 points and 10 rebounds for host Brea Olinda (23-3), which meets Hesperia in the next round. Rancho Verde finishes 14-13.

Hesperia 68, Arroyo Valley 64--played Wednesday

San Marcos 69, Whittier La Serna 55 --Drew Spaventa scored 21 points to lead visiting San Marcos (16-9) over Whittier La Serna (19-9).

Savanna 59, Bellflower 53 --Michael Fairchild and Thomas Smith each had 13 points and Danny Quezada had seven points, 16 rebounds and six assists for host Savanna (21-7), which trailed, 31-26, at halftime. Denwan Emanul had 18 points for Bellflower (18-9).

Fullerton 58, Orange 35--

Burbank Burroughs 54, Torrance 50 --Joey Paysinger and Peter St. Hubert each scored 18 points as visiting Burbank Burroughs (13-14) beat Torrance (18-9).

Tustin 52, Rosemead 45 --

Mayfair 73, Sierra Vista 40 --Dejon Prejean scored 18 and dished out 10 assists and Justin Hawkins added 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead host Mayfair (19-7) over Sierra Vista (16-8).


Second Round (in bracket order)   Games Played Tuesday, February 25, 2003:

Mater Dei 92, Hacienda Heights Wilson 48 --Wesley Washington scored 33 points and Harrison Schaen had 12 points and 11 rebounds for top-seeded Mater Dei (28-2). Wilson finishes the season 15-15.

Victor Valley 65, Elsinore 51--played Wednesday, 2/26,  delayed by weather

Redondo 73, Cypress 70--

Dominguez 61, Whittier 57 --Jason Murdoch had 20 points, including two free throws with 15 seconds left that gave host Dominguez (14-6) a 59-57 lead. Curtis Kelly made two game-clinching free throws with six seconds left for Dominguez. Travon Free had 17 points and 17 rebounds for Dominguez, which led 30-28 at halftime. Mike Hernandez had 27 points for fourth-seeded Whittier (24-4).

Brea Olinda 73, Hesperia 64--played Wednesday 2/26, delayed by weather

San Marcos 81, Savanna 60--

Burbank Burroughs 65, Fullerton 56 --Joey Paysinger had 16 points, Peter St. Hubert added 14 points and Kris Jones had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Burroughs (14-14). Darren Fells had 23 points and Brett Horner added 17 for Fullerton (22-6).

Mayfair 57, Tustin 51 (OT) --Justin Hawkins scored 18 points to lead Mayfair (20-7). Tustin finishes the season 18-9.


All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
