D-III NCAA Tournament:
Occidental
Hosts Aurora Tomorrow--(Mar. 7, 2003)
This past weekend we noted the impending release of the NCAA Division III Tournament bracket. Well, the bracket was released (late) on Sunday, but it's out now, and can be viewed either at the NCAA's own D-III website, or at D3Hoops.com, where you'll get about the most complete coverage of Division III basketball you're going to find anywhere.
And as we noted on Sunday, Occidental College is currently ranked No. 1 in the West and as a result, received a bye in the first round, and will now play Aurora College on Saturday at the Tigers' own gym. And finally, as we also noted, we've been receiving these e-mails from Coach Brian Newhall all season, but now that Oxy is in the dance, it's time to pass along coach Newhall's "Inside Scoop"....Here it is:
Tiger Basketball: The Inside Scoop
NCAA DIII Tournament - Round of 32 (Second Round)Occidental will host a Round of 32 NCAA DIII Tournament Game on Saturday, March 8 7:00 PM in Rush Gym
The Tigers continue to be ranked #1 in the West Region and received a first round bye. Oxy will play the winner of Trinity University, TX (21-7) and Aurora University, IL (23-5). That game will be played in San Antonio, TX on March 6.
We are expecting an 1,800 person sellout! Ticket office will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday. In addition, tickets will be sold in the Athletic Department between 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday and Friday. Tickets are $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and children under 5. Please be advised that due to the number and size of events scheduled on campus Saturday, parking will be scarce. Satellite parking and a shuttle service to and from campus will be available at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 2002 Merton Avenue (one block south of Colorado Blvd). All tickets will be sold on a first come, first-served basis.
*Reminder, game time is 7:00 PM....not 7:30 PM. ARRIVE EARLY!
That's it for now.
