Wed. Game Results & Finals Schedules--(July 31, 2003)

After Wednesday's games, we're down to just the semifinals in each of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Brackets, and in the championship bracket, one semifinal is set, and the other quarterfinals is still left to be played.  In the Championship bracket, the Pump N Run team (the Pump's No. 1 team) is still alive and kicking, and they will meet the Atlanta Celtics.  These two top teams last met at the Gibbons Memorial Day Classic in the finals there, and will face off again tomorrow morning at LMU at 11:20 a.m..   In the other half of the Championship bracket, the quarterfinals will be played at 9:00 a.m. when the GoJo Players will play the Tulsa Jr. Hurricanes in one game, and at 10:20 a.m. the ICan All Stars will face the Cleveland BBC 17-U's;  the winners of both of those games advance to the other championship semifinal game set for 1:40 p.m. at LMU, and the winner will play the winner of the Pump N Run vs. Celtics game in the Championship Final at 4:00 p.m.

In the other brackets, it's a bit cumbersome to explain how these brackets are organized, but suffice it to say, that with 176 teams playing in the tournament, it's just not a number that's evenly divisible by 16 (which is what you need to construct a really good bracket)....So if one were to actually draw out the bracket, it's kind of strange looking...but it works, so let's not bother with that.  Suffice it to say that of the local teams, other than Pump N Run,   the teams still playing are the Rockfish #4 team, IEBP #4, ICan All-Stars, Lynwood, ABC Hoops, and the Double Pump All Stars team. 

Here's the schedule for Thursday, insofar as it has been settled.  We also have the complete results for Wednesday's games below, for those who are interested in how all of these teams got to where they happen to be.
