SoCal & NorCal Brackets
(Final Update March 20, 2004)
We've posted the State Tournament Brackets for every CIF Enrollment Division below. Find the one you are interested in seeing by clicking the following links:
The State Tournament is pretty easy to understand: Just about every question you might have about the selection process, enrollment divisions, seeding, travel priorities, etc., can be answered by consulting the 2004 SoCal Prelims. Handbook, or the NorCal Preliminaries Handbooks (there are two of them, the 2004 NorCal Div I,II,III Handbook and the 2004 NorCal Div IV,V Handbook. There is also a 2004 SoCal Finals Handbook, and a 2004 State Basketball Handbook. In short, just about every question you might have about the State Finals is found in one of these handbooks, or at the Official CIF State website.
As you will see, the winner of each SoCal and NorCal State Regional will meet for the Finals at Arco Arena on the dates indicated below. If you want to purchase tickets for any of the Regional Finals, or the State Finals, tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or at the Arco Arena boxoffice (for the State Finals only).

Championship Final Recap from the CIF Official Website:
Division II Boys: Dominguez dominates en route to sixth state title
Lamar Roberson had 16 points and 11 rebounds as Dominguez
of Compton downed Hayward 67-46 to win the boys Division II state championship.
Bryan Harvey added 10 for the Dons, who took the lead for good with 3:55 left in the first
period, and outmanned Hayward the rest of the way. Dominguez led 36-16 at halftime. Diamon
Simpson had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Hayward, who was making its first appearance in
a state title game since 1991. Dominguez, on the other hand, now has six California
championships, the second most ever for boys. Only Crenshaw of Los Angeles, with eight,
has more. The final score was not indicative of the run of play, as Dominguez was in
complete control from the second quarter on. Haywards reserves knocked down three
three-pointers in the fourth period to make the score more respectable, but the outcome
was never in doubt.

Championship Final Recap from the CIF Official Website:
Division IV Boys: St. Joseph 's comes from behind in two-point victory
Alex Harris scored 19 points, including the last five of the game, as St. Joseph of Alameda beat Verbum Dei of Los Angeles, 49-47, to win the boys Division IV state championship . Harriss final basket, a three-pointer with 1:43 left, gave the Pilots their first lead of the game, and neither team could score the rest of the way. Lowell Grissom had 12 points for Verbum Dei which led by 10 points, 38-28, with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter. This was the first loss in four state championship appearances for the Eagles. Ron Lewis added 11 points for St. Joseph, which won its third state title in five tries. Although Verbum Dei kept the Pilots from scoring in the paint, recording 10 blocked shots, St. Joseph dominated the boards, 53-41. The Pilots struggled with their shooting all night, finishing at just 27 percent, but Harris finally got hot, scoring 11 points in the final quarter. But after he gave St. Joes the lead, he missed the front end of a one-on-one, and Ron Hester missed two free throws to keep Verbum Deis hopes alive. But Mike Pagans last-second jumper hit the back rim and bounced away, giving the Pilots their third state title.
Sportsmanship Award Winners: Cedric Nolden, Verbum Dei; Alex Harris, St. Joseph
