SoCal & NorCal Brackets
(Final Update: March 20, 2004)
We've posted the State Tournament Brackets for every CIF Enrollment Division below. Find the one you are interested in seeing by clicking the following links:
The State Tournament is pretty easy to understand: Just about every question you might have about the selection process, enrollment divisions, seeding, travel priorities, etc., can be answered by consulting the 2004 SoCal Prelims. Handbook, or the NorCal Preliminaries Handbooks (there are two of them, the 2004 NorCal Div I,II,III Handbook and the 2004 NorCal Div IV,V Handbook. There is also a 2004 SoCal Finals Handbook, and a 2004 State Basketball Handbook. In short, just about every question you might have about the State Finals is found in one of these handbooks, or at the Official CIF State website.
As you will see, the winner of each SoCal and NorCal State Regional will meet for the Finals at Arco Arena on the dates indicated below. If you want to purchase tickets for any of the Regional Finals, or the State Finals, tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or at the Arco Arena boxoffice (for the State Finals only).

Championship Final Recap from the CIF Official Website:
Division
II Girls: Carondelet captures first state title
Jayne Appel had 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocks to lead Carondelet of
Concord past Troy of Fullerton, 48-41, to win the California girls Division II
title. The Cougars also got 11 points from Allison Russi. This is Carondelet's first state
title in basketball. Meghan McGuire led Troy, the defending state champion, with 16 points
and 11 rebounds. Carondelet controlled the game from the beginning, jumping out to a 9-2
lead that was extended to 13 late in the third period. The Warriors, however, went on a
run to cut the margin to three, 36-33, with 5:25 left, but then went 4:26 without scoring
and the Cougars pulled away for the win. Defense was the key for Carondelet, which held
Troy to just 25 percent shooting, and its lowest point total of the season. In a
statistical oddity, neither team got any points from its bench -- the 10 starters scored
all the points in the game. None of the Carondelet reserves even took a shot or attempted
a free throw.
Sportsmanship Award Winners: Rheya Neabors, Troy; Emily St. Jean, Carondelet

Championship Final Recap from the CIF Official Website:
Division
IV Girls: Paris Twins Combine for 52 to lead Piedmont to first state championship
Courtney Paris, 6-4, scored a divisional state record 37 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and
blocked four shots as Piedmont won its second straight girls Division IV state
championship, 60-51 over La Jolla Country Day. Twin sister, 6-3 Ashley, added 15 points
and 10 rebounds. Candice Wiggins had 31 points, 15 rebounds and five steals for La Jolla
Country Day, and Marisa Rivera added 11. The Torreys have been to the state championship
game in each of the last four years, winning the title in both 2001 and 2002. The Paris
twins combined to score 43 points in a row for the Highlanders and wound up with all but
eight of the teams total. Courtney Paris finished 16-of-22 from the field, and
Ashley was seven-of-11. Wiggins set a D-IV record for most three-pointers made with five,
but La Jolla Country Day was just six of 27 from beyond the arc. The Torreys were hot
early and built a 22-14 lead, but cooled off thereafter. They wound up shooting just 26
percent overall, and were outrebounded 45-32, which offset their 20 steals and 32 Piedmont
turnovers.
Sportsmanship Award Winners: Marissa Rivera, La Jolla Country Day; Logan Rawlings, Piedmont
