1. | Long Beach Poly | Lost Wesley Stokes and Joe Travis to graduation, but return strongest team in the division, with Markee White, Marcedes Lewis, Carlos Rivers, Jono Harper. Defending D-IAA Champs should repeat, but will be challenged by a few like Upland. |
2. | Upland | Very tough squad, UNLV-signee Kirk Snyder, Sheldon Pace, Prentice Harris, Lionel Davis and Tye-Juan Hatter make them a contender. Quarterfinals last year, could be finalist this year |
3. | El Toro | Underrated team over-achieved last year, and this year if everyone returns could be a contender. Ashkan Nazeri, Matt Green, Ken Tanaka, and Chris Parrish should be back for Elite 8 finisher. |
4. | Canyon Springs | Arizona State-signee Jason Braxton, soph Richard Cobbs, Howard and Royal Tayloar and Marcus Carver make up a talented squad. Should have better chemistry |
5. | Oxnard | Only lose 5 players; Matthew Merricks is gone, but they have some excellent guard play, and top D-I prospect Nicholas Curtis, as well as All-League junior point guard Jonathan Davis and junior forward Lee Abair. |
6. | Eisenhower | Return Johnny Dukes, Denote Nelson, Sean Marshall, Joell Hart, and Alex Acker. Sweet 16 team should be better this year |
7. | Crescenta Valley | James Jenkins, Jimmy Goffredo, and Chris Tarne all return and CV could contend |
9. | Fontana | Two of the "Fab Three" are gone, but Trayvon Williams and a very talented team remain |
10. | Arroyo Grande | Height with Phillip Johnson and Ryan Zimmerman and good guard play give this team real potential |
11. | Peninsula | Lose a little to graduation, but gain from returning player maturity. Kevin Gardner will lead along with Ryan Johnson, Phil Baxter, Jay Lescoulie, Andrew Nyim, and Austing Cinnzmoad |
12. | Leuzinger | Derrick Clark is reason enough to put this team here |
13. | Glendora | Mike Mehanna, Spencer Foster, Evan Lynch and a few other returnees will keep Glendora near the top of the division. How near is the question. |
14. | Ayala | Litigation settled, now it's back to business. Lost a lot to graduation, but Dontaa Donald, Ken Quinn, Kyle Gregory and Danny Stephens return to an always tough team. Hard to replace Chris Pacana, Marcel Burke, Malik Jones, Mike Sterling, Chase Jones, and DJ Lucas, but a huge base of students to draw on. |
15 | Jordan | Travon Bryant is gone, but Keith Rogers, Anthony Massey, Rashawn Childs, Ron Banks, Donald Williams, Clay Salima and Donte Cottrell should all return. |
16. | Etiwanda | Lost Reco Wright and Romel Beck to graduation, but most of their other offensive weapons return, including Jonathan Boyd and Jason Burrell. |
17 | Ontario | Ontario lost a lot to graduation, including Jonathan Levy (18 ppg) and Jason Burrell (21 ppg), but they return just about everyone, including Marlon Mitchell (15 ppg), Brandon Kinney, David Dunn, Andrew ?Alhadeff and Harold Ringgold. |
18 | Aliso Niguel | Graduated 3 starters accounting for 34 ppg, but return some talented guards like Dino Lamela, Shaun Garcia, Brandon Sievers, Ramy Farag, Don Nguyen, and big scorer Zach Zanolli, along with Ricky Ebel, Brandon Alconcel, Scott Sporleader Kyle Hanson, Chris Buchert. |
19 | Warren | Lost Curtis Williams (18.7 ppg), but return Julian Assibey, Aaron Hobbensiefken, and several others Jimmy Shull, and Harold Fairweather. Will rebuild, but have a good base. |
20T | Los Alamitos | Lost a lot to graduation including big men Jeff Grgas Kenny Carter but return Brian Rakusin (6'-8" Sr. C/F), along guards Eddie Courtemarche, Ian Martini, Steve Shinen and Eric Yarger.Very good jv-feeder program. |
20T | Esperanza | Team returns everyone except four lost to graduation. Anthony Vicencia leads returning scorers. |
