(Games Through 1/20/01

Mayfair Record: 15-3, 5-0.  Beat Bellflower on Wednesday, then hammered Artesia Friday night. Next up: hosting Norwalk in a Suburban League game. Won the Rim Rattler Holiday Hoops Invitational but then lost to Mater Dei pretty decisively at the Dream Classic last Monday. Josh Childress and Edwin Draugan lead team and division.
Muir Record: 18-2, 4-0. Beat Glendale on Friday night and then hung on to beat Monrovia on Saturday at the McDonald's Invitational at Pasadena City College.  Next Up: @ Pasadena 1/23 in a Pacific League Game.
Ocean View Record: 17-5, 5-0.  Beat Tustin by 10 on Friday night but lost to No. 1 Upland in D-IAAA on Saturday (first team to reach 20 wins in California).  Marques Crane and Torin Beeler continue to lead. Next up: will host league rival Westminster on 1/26.
Bishop Amat Record: 17-4, 2-2.  This team has surprised a lot of people. Lost to Bishop Montgomery this past Saturday, but still played tough. Next Up:  Hosting Del Rey League rival Serra on 1/26.
Charter Oak Record: 17-3, 4-0.  Beat Hacienda Heights Wilson decisively on Friday night. Miramonte League title looking good. David Boler, Todd Hurst and Jason Grissom lead. Up next: @ Pomona 1/23.
Redondo Record: 14-5, 6-1.  Devastating loss to Inglewood at the Dream Classic, so they took it out on Santa Monica beating them 63-39. Next up: @ Peninsula 1/24.
Monrovia Record: 16-4 overall.  Last game: Loss to Muir.  Bryant Markson has been a scoring machine.  Ryan O'Hara, Thomas Herring have helped.  Next up: Hosting South Pasadena.
Bonita Record: 14-5, 5-2.  Big win over Baldwin Park on Friday;  a Valle Vista League title is possible. Kyle Johnson, Chris Dean and Justin Miller lead.  Up next: @ San Dimas on 1/23.
Fullerton Record: 15-6, 2-2.  Last Friday beat a tough Troy team 58-51.  Up next: Freeway League game with Buena Park @ Fullerton on1/22.
Artesia Record: 14-4, 4-1.  Lost to Mayfair 52-46 on Friday. Better than anticipated, but also lost to Bishop Montgomery last Saturday at the Pump Hoop Challenge.  Next up: hosting Bellflower on 1/24.
Compton If their record was ever accurately recorded anywhere we'd have it, but it isn't and we don't.  Lost to Lakewood on Friday in a Moore League game. Up next: @ Long Beach Jordan 1/22.
HH Wilson Record: 13-7, 1-3.  Lost to Charter Oak, and a Miramonte League title is probably out of reach. James Griffin, Joey Richards and Jermaine Johnson lead. Up next: Garey @ Wilson 1/23.
Dos Pueblos 11-5, 1-2.  Beat Buena on Wednesday, but their last game (Friday) was cancelled as a result of dangerous conditions at San Marcos. Led by Stephen Graybill.  Up next: Will host Camarillo 1/26. 5 games remaining in regular season.
Newbury Park 11-8, 1-5.  Newbury Park struggling again in Marmonte League. Lost to Agoura then to Thousand Oaks on Friday. Aaron Bobik can lead.   Next up: 1/24 @ Royal.
Diamond Ranch Record: 10-9, 2-1.  We thought they might challenge Charter Oak for the Miramonte title. . . we were wrong. It's still a deep team with Daniel Knott and others.  Up next: Los Altos @ Diamond Ranch 1/23.
Magnolia Record: 11-9, 3-1.  Geoffrey Clayton and Isaiah Bryant have been the mainstays. Beat Savanna by 26 on Friday night. Next up in the Orange League: Hosting Anaheim 1/24.
Palm Desert Record: 13-5, 3-3.  Josh Zazulia and Dionte Harris have helped lead Palm Desert. Probably No. 3 in DVL but will make noise in the playoffs. A loss to LaQuinta on Friday, and one to Cat City on Tuesday probably killed any chance for a title. Next up: @ Coachella Valley 1/24.
Rosemead Record: 12-8, 3-1.  In Mission Valley League beat Gabrielino on Friday and league title could be reached. Richard Van Zandt and Mario Cobian lead.  Up Next: @ Mountain View 1/24.
Atascadero Record: 9-9, 1-3.   Are they good or have their opponents just been bad? Lost to Cabrillo (6-13 overall) on Friday. Go figure. . . Travis Nelson, Riley Prickett and Jordan Leiser have been the main offensive weapons  Next up: @ Morro Bay on 1/26.
Servite Record: 8-13, 0-3. Lost to Santa Margarita on Friday by 26. Started out strong, and then faltered. Sebastian Zeilonka and Billy Burfeind have been solid performers but will need a more consistent effort to avoid falling further. The tough Serra league competition is virtually guaranteed to insure Servite gets at least 4 losses in league play.
