Games through 1/20/01

Crossroads Still No. 1 in the division, but they are not nearly as dominant as in past season.  Beat Crenshaw in the preseason, but then had a run of bad luck at several December tournaments. Still, there are not many teams in this division who will challenge.
St. Monica Record: 14-6, 3-1.  Big win over Don Bosco on Friday night. If they can knock off Verbum Dei in Camino Real League, they might be able to take Crossroads too. Sean Cole had 17 points, 16 rebounds in last game. Next Up: @ St. Anthony 1/24.
Calvary Chapel Santa Ana 12-5, 4-1.  Lost on Friday to Orange Lutheran in Olympic Leageu play but still are one of the best teams in this division. Senior forward Bryan Filkey, point guard Isaiah Barney lead the Eagles  Next Up: @ Whittier Christian 1/26.
St. Bernard Record: 11-11, 1-3.  Lost to Serra but then beat St. Paul on Friday.  While St. Bernard made it last year all the way to the State Division IV finals, this doesn't look like last year's team. Next Up: @ Bishop Montgomery 1/26.
Maranatha Record: 9-9, 2-3. Maranatha is an on-again, off-again team. Currently struggling with some teams in Olympic League, they should have a better record than they do with David Newkirk leading.  Next Up: Hosting Valley Christian Cerritos 1/26.
LA Baptist Record: 13-4 overall.  Beat Malibu by 36 points on Thursday. Chris Tillman, Andrew Peterson , Brian Sanders, Mike Madigan lead. Won't win the Alpha League (Kilpatrick will) but they will compete. Next Up: @ Pasadena Marshall 1/26.
Desert Christian Record: 10-5, 3-1. A convincing win over Mammoth on Friday 66-27.  Next Up: Hosting Boron 1/22.
Providence Liberty League runners-up to Buckley last year, the Pioneers beat league opponent Yeshiva last night. Derek Jones (6'-6" Sr. F) leads the team. When he plays well, they win, when he doesn't they tend to lose. Up Next:   Hosting Windward 1/27.
Brentwood Beat Montclair Prep on Friday 57-55 and are now 2-3 in league.  Next Up: hosting Whitney on 1/25.
Salesian Last game a loss to Westminster (10-11). Next Up: @ Division IV-AA Santa Fe League rival La Salle 1/24.
T Mojave No idea what their current record is, but they continue to win out in the High Desert League. Played Desert on Friday, 1/19, but can't find the results.  Next game: 1/23 @ Frazier Mountain.
