Recap: Boys' Scores From

Ok, so we're a couple of days late. Big deal. There weren't too many scores on Tuesday, at least not many we could find. Just a handful of games. But here's what we found. Short and sweet. Or not so sweet if your team lost.

Costa Mesa 61, Garden Grove 42--Shawn Ferryman scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the host Mustangs (13-4) defeated the Argonauts. Greg Benoit led Garden Grove with a game-high 24 points.
Diamond Bar 80, Bell Gardens 66--Bell Gardens kept the game close in the first half, but Diamond Bar came up with a big third quarter to take an 80-66 win in a nonleague matchup. The Brahmas (7-7) trailed by five early in the third quarter, but then began to use a full-court press, scoring off turnovers to take an 11-point advantage at the end of the third quarter. Mark Jecmen led Diamond Bar with 26 points, Khalif Ford scored 21 points (16 in the first half), Henry Frierson added 12 (including two 3-pointers in the third quarter), and Dominic Robinson scored 11 points. The Brahmas had 24 assists as a team and commited only two turnovers.BELL GARDENS (66) Liero 9, Gonzales 16, Ruiz 4, Ramirez 5, Rosalez 11, Herrera 22. Gladstone 76, Wilson 74 (OT)--Gladstone was led by Ray Jones with 21 points. Terrell White and Chris La Count both had 12 for Gladstone (10-1), while Jimmy Romo added another 10, and Dominique Nevers had 9. Fernando Arranda and Son Phan both had 6 points for Gladstone. Wilson (8-4) was led by Griffen with 21.
Huntington Beach 61, Cypress 53--Matt Sanders scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Oilers 93-14). Cypress is 9-5. The Oilers were down by six points at the half but then went on a 22-10 run in the third quarter to put the game away. Sanders made three three pointers and Mike Allen added 16 points for Huntington Beach.
La Serna 85, El Monte 33--La Serna had four players in double figures: Jason Edwards 13, Brett Camalich 17, Jason Kozaa 10 and Mike Trang with 14, and they improved their record to 15-1.
Loara 68, Tustin 45--Daniel Melton scored 23 points and Wes Wardrop added 20 to lead the host Saxons (9-7) over the Tillers (2-12). Fullerton 55, John Glenn 32-- The host Indians (12-2) used a 22-9 fourth quarter to put away the Eagles (3-7).
Montebello 78, El Rancho 46--Montebello (5-10) was led by Dany Martinez with 11 and Chris Wade with 10, and they used a 27-7 first quarter to put the game out of reach and never looked back. El Rancho drops to 6-9 overall.
Palm Springs 65, Yucca Valley 57--Despite a two week layoff, Palm Springs boys basketball team recorded a 65-57 win over Yucca Valley on Monday. The Indians improved to 7-6 on the season and complete their non-league Tuesday with a game at Norco. Palm Springs got points from 10 players, 18 points coming off the bench. Jude Chandrasena and Jordi Higueras led the Indians with 13 points each. Palm Springs: 22 12 20 11 -- 65 Yucca Valley: 15 13 13 16 -- 57 Palm Springs: Otteson 6, Patrick 2, Avina 5, Handley 5, Barton 2, Rutledge 4, Caldwell 11, Higueras 13, Chandrasena 13, Diaz 4. Yucca Valley: Phillips 14, Simmons 13, Bower 2, Reaver, Budd 9, Vizcarra 20.
Pomona 55, Bassett 37--The Red Devils (4-9) had a 25-13 lead after the first half and never looked back. Antoine Russ led Pomona with 22 points and O'Dell Howard added 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Pomona opens league at Garey on Friday at 7 p.m. POMONA (55) Brown 2, Russ 22, Holden 4, Howard 15, Verdon 4, Schwenke 4, Benime 2, Mitchell 2.
