Top 10 Polls For This Week--(Jan. 25, 2000)
Below is the latest CIF Southern Section's official top 10 poll for Division V. Effectively there was no movement in the Division V-AA poll, and even though there were some tie votes, the teams remain in their same positions relative to one another, at least in that division, even though most of the top teams lost: Montclair Prep wound up tied for 4th after the overtime loss to Campbell Hall; Pac Hills remained at No. 2 with the loss to Crossroads; Bell Jeff remained at three despite the loss to La Salle; Calvary Chapel had two wins and remained at No. 4. St. Anthony got one win, and stayed at No. 6, and Buckley had three wins last week and remained at No. 7 for the second week. Santa Clara beat Malibu and remained at 8 and Chadwick beat Rio Hondo Prep and got a tie for 8th, up one from last week's 9th place. Ribet cracked the top 10 this week and got the tie with Western Christian.
The poll is compiled by the SCIBCA (Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association). Basically each division is composed of a committee consisting of a number of coaches who review standings, strength of schedule, results and the like. Committee members submit their respective votes and these are compiled and tabulated and the result is what you see below. Polls will be issued weekly by the CIF Southern Section office. This should also be posted up on the Southern Section website either this evening or by tomorrow at the latest.
