Only A Few Boys' Southern Section
Games Today--(Jan. 3, 2000)

The boys' basketball season has at least two and a half more months to go, but only 6 more weeks of real league play, since the last game has to be completed in league by not later than February 11.  That's not a lot of time for most teams to squeeze in another 14 or so games, so the action in the next few weeks is what everyone has been preparing for.  Teams that are successful will continue playing in February and for a select few, in March. Even fewer will make it to the Southern Section finals and then on to the State Regional tournament.  But January is what everyone works for in November through December, and the league races are on.

There are Just a handful of boys' games today for those of you hoop-starved junkies who have had to endure a weekend of football, and most of them are league games. We can't really say for sure whether these games are all actually going to take place, but the CIF Media Guide and Schedule lists them all for today.  They may have been rescheduled, so before making the drive, we'd suggest you either consult with your local paper or call the school (assuming that they're back in session today). If you decide to go, have fun.
