Gottlieb: Roger Hogan To Transfer
To Foothill Today--(Jan. 28, 2000)

According to Bob Gottlieb, who maintains close ties with the Hogan family, Roger Hogan (6'-0" Sr. PG), who was enrolled and playing at Servite HS, where he played as a freshman and sophomore, later transferring to Anaheim Canyon for his junior season, then transferred back to Servite for his senior year, has apparently left Servite, and will enroll today at Foothill HS.  According to the report we received from Gottlieb, Hogan "may possibly be eligible to suit up and play on Friday night for Foothill" although given our understanding of the CIF rules on transfers, that's going to be problematic. But if anyone knows the ins and outs of the CIF rules relating to transfers, it's the Hogan family, and of course, there may be circumstances unknown to us which would permit the CIF Southern Section to grant an exemption in this case which would make Hogan immediately eligible.  Roger has already played in 21 games for Servite this season.  Foothill is currently (11-10, 4-1), and there are six more games remaining on their schedule before playoffs.

According to the report we received from Gottlieb last night, Servite Head Coach Brian Kenney, in his first year as a head coach, has had his hands full this season, and three other players have also left the team (although those players aren't named, and it's uncertain if Martin Iti remains in the program).   Hogan averaged 18 ppg for Canyon H.S. last season, and started out well early this fall for Servite but then the team began to struggle, and with that struggling, came increasing conflicts between the coaches and players.  In addition to Roger, younger brother Kyle (6'-3" Fr.  SG) will also transfer to Foothill.  Their older brother Steve, now graduated, also played for Servite.
