Jason Kapono To Be Honored
Tonight At Artesia--(Jan. 11, 2000)

Several people have noted this one on the Message Forum, but in case you missed it, tonight, at the halftime of the Artesia v. Mayfair game, the jersey of former Artesia standout will be retired.   Kapono is currently at UCLA and has got to be the smartest and possibly the best player on the Bruins squad right now, which isn't saying much for the rest of the team that a freshman can come in and make that kind of an impact, but then again, Jason is a special kind of player.  He also holds the Artesia all time scoring record with 2,678 points and he played a role in leading Artesia to back to back CIF Southern Section Division I-AA titles.  Even though a State Title eluded him throughout his high school career, Jason was instrumental in helping Artesia to never lose a league game during his time with the team.

In fact, Artesia has won something like a gazillion consecutive league games (actually it's really a very finite number. . . we just can't recall it right now), and you'll get a chance to see them win the gazillionth plus one tonight when the Pioneers take on Mayfair at home.  Even if you can't make it out for the game, it will be available on Fox Sports Net 2.  The game and the broadcast are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
