SoCal Classic: Game Scores And
Some Details--(Jan. 30, 2000)

The SoCal Classic (referred to by some local papers as the "SoCalHoops Classic", even though we aren't officially connected with the event), featured seven top games, and as you can tell from reading our prior article about today's TV coverage of the top two games (Artesia v. Washington Union, and Dominguez v. Roman Catholic, which will both be broadcast today on Fox Sports West 2), a family medical emergency prevented us from attending yesterday. Still we've been able to get some (not all) of the scores of the games, and some pretty good details about what happened. Here's what we know about the scores:

Compton 61, Serra 50

Mater Dei 87, University (Irvine) 63

Pasadena 55, LA Washington 34

Santa Margarita 60, Verbum Dei 53

LB Poly 87, Richmond (CA) 45

Artesia 95, Washington Union (Fresno) 56

The Dominguez game score wasn't published in any of the local papers, including the Long Beach Press-Telegram which regularly covers Dominguez, and it's just too early for us to start calling around to coaches and players we know who were at the game. Besides, patience is a virtue, and in a couple of hours the game will be shown on TV anyway so we'll all know the final then.
