CIF-SS Decision On Inglewood
Bracketing
Delayed Until Today--(Feb. 15, 2000)
The CIF will hold a hearing this afternoon to consider allegations concerning Inglewood's position in the bracket in Division II-AA. While a decision had been expected yesterday morning, the hearing was delayed because Inglewood could not attend. "We delayed the hearing because Inglewood couldn't be present," said Hal Harkness, a former LA City Section CIF Commissioner who is acting as a special consultant to the Southern Section, along with retired former CIF Southern Section Commissioners Ray Plutko and Dean Crowley. "I'm not directly involved in the process with the Inglewood issue, and the CIF is not going to comment until the hearing is held, out of fairness to all sides," said Harkness.
While no one at the CIF would comment, rumors circulated at the pairings meeting on Sunday at Gahr High School that the allegations involve claims that Inglewood used an inelgible player for the last five regular season games. No one from the school would comment either.
We'll have more on this as soon as the CIF-SS office releases a statement.
