Nike Extravaganza V:
Second Morning Game Recap--(Feb. 5, 2000)

Game Three Report:  Santa Margarita 56, Glendora 36

If you're a Glendora fan, turn off your computer now. . .send the kids out, and leave the room, because this wasn't a pretty game.  In the first half of this contest, Glendora shot only 27% from the field, 25% from three, and never went to the line; in the second half, it got a little better (50% from the field on the two's and 33% from three) but overall, Glendora shot just 31.8% overall in the game, and the final score, a 20 point loss, was evidence that the Tartans just never got their offense going against the tough, swarming Santa Margarita defense.  SM was led by Adam Tancredi with 14 points and he did a very credible job on the blocks. . . bet Gary McKnight wished he had stuck around with Jamal Sampson out and the Soderberg's gone. . .. Adam doesn't have great speed, but he can run the floor and gets into position down low when you need him there.  Not a superstar, but certainly capable of playing at the next level. Lenny Collins had 10 for the Eagles too, shooting 2 for 4 from three, and RJ Socci had 9 while Travis Smith had 6.

For Glendora, the lone bright spot was the tremendous effort from Jason Davis (6'-3" Sr. SG/SF) who drove to the basket, slashed, rebounded and collected 19 points in the game, on 7 for 15 shooting from the field and 2 for 6 from the line.  Jason is a sort of big-boned but quick player who can also definitely play at the next level.  Unfortunately for Glendora, other than some good defensive effort from Graham miller and duncan Ried, and some good point play from Bruce Hatch, the shots just weren't falling.  Hatch finished with 9, Miller with 3, and Charlie Allen had 2.

For Santa Margarita, Travis Smith had 6 (did we say that already?), Chris Pearce had 5, R.J. Socci had 9, Lenny Collins 10, Ryan Stacey (great rebounding, but the official scorers only had him with 4), had 5 points, while Brandon Rohe (younger brother of Jake), scored 7.  As we said, Adam Tancredi had 14, and 5 rebounds.  Rohe had 9 boards and 3 assists.

Glendora 7 5 13 11 --36
Santa Margarita 15 15 12 14 --56
