Boys Division IV-AA Bracket:
First Round Pairings--(Feb 13, 2000)

This is a pretty small bracket (a 16 team-format) which will actually involve 21 teams.  As a result of the odd number of entrants, three will be five "Wild Card Games" all of which will be played Wednesday, February 16:

Wild Card A:  Carpinteria @ El Segundo
Wild Card B:  Serra @ Valley Christian Cerritos
Wild Card C:  Crespi @ Salesian
Wild Card D:  Big Bear @ Bishop Union
Wild Card E:   Palo Verde @ De Anza

As far as seeding is concerned, Pasadena Marshall was seeded No. 1,  La Salle was the No. 2 seed, and Twentynine Palms and St. Joseph Santa Maria appear to be the other seeded teams (although it's quite possible that in this bracket there were only two true seeds, since we don't recall St. Joseph being a ranked SCIBCA team. . . but then we're going off memory on this one. . . ).

Here's the bracketing through the final rounds. While we can't say that the bracketing is perfect, the committee(which this year consisted of four CIF commissioners--(Ray Plutko, a former CIF Southern Section Commissioner, Dean Crowley, also a former CIF-SS Commissioner, Jim Staunton, current CIF-SS Commissioner, and Paul Castillo, the new Assistant Commissioner of Basketball for the Southern Section) did a pretty fair and equitable job in our view.  But if you have complaints, talk to them.
