Calvary Chapel 46, Campbell Hall 43--We didn't go to any of the "big" division games, but instead took a trip down the 605 Fwy and saw Calvary Chapel and Campbell Hall duke it out, a very tough fought game, but one which was very low scoring.  We walked in with about 6 minutes showing on the clock and didn't notice what quarter it was, but with the score at 12-7, assumed it was the first quarter. . . wrong again.   It was actually the second quarter, and at the half the score was 20-18, a good football score.  But even though it was a low scoring game, it didn't lack for drama, and Tim Drisdom provided most of it as he hit a huge three pointer to put Calvary Chapel ahead with under a minute to play.  Campbell Hall was just in shock, and when they turned it over and Calvary Chapel scored again, the game was over.  Drisdom hit for 16 points (8 in the fourth quarter), while Pilon had 10.  James had 8, Henderson 3, Banuelos 6, and Carrie Drisdom had 3.   For CH, Robert Locke was held to just 3 points and he missed some crucial free throws at two different points in the game.  Jesse Foster played his usual game, and was implacable rarely showing emotion but playing well and he finished with 19 points.  Hassan Bassiri had 13 points and was clearly the most inspired player on the CH team tonight, pushing the break and really letting it all out on the floor.  Womack finished with just 1, Derek Williams only had 2, Klippsten had 2, and Drobnick 3.     Scoring by quarters:  Calvary Chapel:  12  6  12   16--46;  Campbell Hall:  7 9  12  15--43.

St. Anthony's 65, Pacific Hills 64-- One of our newsie friends went to this game and sent us a report:

"In one of the most exciting finishes in the 2000 season, the visiting Saints knocked Pacific Hills out of the playoffs, and this is the second year in a row that PH is knocked out before the finals;  last year it was Santa Clara which ended Pacific Hills' run. This year it was the Saints, and St. Anthony used an incredible 23-9 fourth quarter to do it.  Pearson Smith scored 21 fourth quarter points including the game winning tip-in with 2 seconds remaining to send the Saints to the finals on Friday at LMU against Calvary Chapel Downey.  The game will be at 6:30 p.m.

"Smith was amazing all night as he harrassed Jonathan Wade and Anthony Kyles into numerous turnovers.  Smith absolutely took control in the fourth quarter though as he nailed a 3 pointer while being fouled, hit for another 3 with 5.5 seconds remaining bringing the game to within one,  and then scored the winning basket on a turnover under the St. Anthony basket by Pacific Hills.   Smith finished with 38 points while Jared Lloyd had 11 and Jay Arizabel had 14;   there was another player with 2, but I didn't catch his name.  Pacific Hills was up 15 at one point in the second half and they were ahead 60-50 with under 4:00 minutes to play.  What a game!"
