These are the official All-League Selections as voted on by the coaches of the LA City Section Western League (Fairfax, Los Angeles, Hamillton, Palisades, University, Venice and Westchester). Keep in mind that each league has its own rules as to the number of players on each team, so it varies from league to league; in this league there's apparently no limit. . . . Some leagues have as many all-league selections as there are teams in the league, some allow two per team, and other leagues treat each "team" as though it should be the best, top five players in the league overall, while still others try to make it a real "team" by position, i.e., the best point guard in the league, the best center, etc. . . We're not sure exactly what the criteria used here was, but these players were selected by a vote of the league's coaches last night (Tuesday).

Honestly though, this league had probably the biggest "All-League" selection list to choose from, and it's probably the case that on several of the teams (Westchester and Fairfax in particular) virtually the entire roster would qualify as all- league were they playing in any other league, whether City or Southern Section. In short, these guys had so much talent to choose from that it was overwhelming, and they chose to create not just a second team, but a third team and honorable mentions. . . And we're not quite sure how the "Most Outstanding Player" is any different than the MVP award (why not just have two players share it, as Co-MVP's like other leagues), but whatever it is, both players clearly deserved the recognition.
