central section all cif selections

Unlike the Southern Section of CIF, which we're more familiar with, the Central Section "All-Section" (aka "All-CIF") selections are released a early, i.e., before the State Finals. In the Southern Section, the selections won't be released until sometime in the last week of March or the first week of April. They might be even later than usual this year, for some fairly obvious reasons having to do with some recent events involving one CIF-SS team in particular. . .

But up in the Central Valley, they're not wasting any time, and today the Bakersfield Californian published the Central Section's "All-CIF" teams today, and not surprisingly, Chris Hernandez (6'-2" Jr. PG) from Clovis West was selected as the Player of the Year in the Yosemite Division, and anyone who has seen him play over the course of the season, or even just at the SoCal Regional Finals against Mater Dei this past Saturday would agree that he's a wise, indeed the only logical selection as Player of the Year. These selections were "compiled" by the CIF Central Section Historian, Bob Barnett, at least that's what the Californian reported today, and that must mean that the coaches voted and he simply counted the ballots. . . at least that's what it should mean.

In any event, rather than have separate All-CIF teams by division, it seems the Central Section has them organized by region, and that means two separate teams for the north (Yosemite) and the south (Sequoia-Sierra).
