CIF LA City Section All-City
Team Selections--(March 16, 2000)
The Los Angeles Unified School District (which is, in reality, the LA City Section of CIF) released its 1999-2000 Boys' All-City Basketball teams this morning and there were two teams selected, a first and second team. Most of the selections appear to be drawn along the lines of players whose teams participated in the "City Championship" (First Team) and those who participated in the "Invitational" (Second Team). . . there are a couple of exceptions, notably Steve Smith, and Mark Bradford, two freshmen who made the second team, and the surprise pick of Justin Saad-Anthony to the first team. . . surprising not because he doesn't deserve to be there (he does). . . it's surprising only because his team, El Camino Real, didn't even make the playoffs.
Tommy Johnson (6'-4" Sr. SG) of Crenshaw, who has signed with Washington State was selected as the All-City MVP this year. Here are the complete All-City Teams:
