adidas Double Pump Spring Tourney:
805 Basketball Roster--(Apr. 10,  2000)

Since we can't possibly hope to cover every player who participated this past weekend at the adidas Double pump Spring Tournament at Cal State Dominguez Hills, we decided to do the next best thing:  Provide you with all of the rosters, and some selected player highlights, and, where possible, a team recap.

805 Basketball is a club/travel team coached and run by George Albanez.  This past weekend, the team played impressively, winning their first game on Friday afternoon against the Arizona Heat team 63-51, and then beating IEBP Ballers 68-31 on Saturday.  Unfortunately, that lopsided win over IEBP earned the boys from 805 a trip to the center court against the Michigan Mustangs, the team which eventually won the tournament on Sunday.  And while 805 managed to hang with the Mustangs for a while, in the end, Michigan won 75-53.

Here's the roster:

Dommanic Ingerson   6'-3" Jr. G   Santa Barbara
Armando Surratt   5'-11" So. PG   Oakland Tech
Trey Putnam   6'-7" Jr. SF   Santa Barbara
David Romero   6'-3  Jr. F   Arroyo Grande
Asher Kuperman   5'-11"   So. PG   San Marcos
James Akinjo   6'-5" Jr. PG   Oakland McClymonds
Joel Smith   6'-5"   So. F   Lompoc
Matt McKinney   6'-8"   So. F   Santa Ynez
Adam Allegro   6'-5"   Jr. F   Agoura

Several players stood out on this team, most notably Dommanic Ingerson, who did what he always does, take the ball strong to the basket, play tough and shoot well.  Dommanic was targeted last summer and spring when he showed up from Oakland McClymonds (before he transferred down to Santa Barbara) as one of the most promising players on the West Coast, and he has shown just about everyone who watched him this season with Santa Barbara that he's a shooting stud.  Great handle and excellent passing skills.  Not only a good outside shooter, but able to take a player off the dribble.  And best of all, he seems to effectively channel all of his aggressive energy onto the court rather than into showmanship which was the rap on him last summer and spring.  Great athleticism, he'll be another one of those highly recruited juniors from the incredibly deep SoCal class.   The Saturday evening game against the Mustangs was a bit frustrating for him, but overall he had a very good tourament.  Adam Allegro appears to be fully back in shape after the injury which ended his season in January (an ankle injury), and he also had a good tournament, running the floor well, rebounding and scoring a bit.  Trey Putnam   was also effective and had a good tournament.  We didn't really get too good a look at either of Dommanic's buddies from up in Oakland, at least not enough to make any critical observations other than that Armando Surratt  has got some good skills and talent.   George is going to have to start calling this team "805-510" Basketball.

"805" is scheduled to play in Dinos Trigonis' "Show Me" Shootout scheduled to take place in Missouri in a couple of weeks, and will also likely play up in Fresno over the Memorial Day Weekend at the 3rd Annual "Mats Madness".  From there it will be the Las Vegas adidas Big Time Tournament in July and most likely the Double Pump "Best of Summer".
