Jason Burrell Signs With
Western Washington--(Apr. 24,  2000)

According to Tracy Pierson at PacWestHoops, Jason Burrell (6'-2" Sr. G) --who we listed as one of SoCalHoops' top 20 point guards in the senior class this year--from Ontario  High, has signed with D-2 Western Washington. Burrell averaged 21 points a game last season, and is a great get for Western Washington, which this year featured several players from SoCal, including Long Beach Poly's Shelton Diggs (the brother of senior Jackrabbit's point A.J. Diggs), Nehemiah Campbell from LA Washington, a freshman for the Vikings this season and Chris Stevens, another Long Beach Poly sophomore.

This year Shelton Diggs started 16 games, including the last nine. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists, and in conference play, contributed 12.4 points while shooting 50 percent on 3-pointers. Providing a spark off the bench was freshman forward Nehemiah Campbell (Los Angeles, CA/Washington). Campbell averaged 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds, with 56 of his 100 rebounds coming on the offensive boards.  The other player to see fairly regular time off the bench was sophomore center-forward Stevens who contributed 1.6 rebounds and a solid interior defensive presence.
