Cerritos' Lemar Gayle Signs
With Utah State--(Apr. 29, 2000)
This must be our day to report on JUCO signings, since it seems that most of the recent news about college signings of SoCal players has involved guys from the JUCO ranks. Well, here's another one: The Orange County Register reported yesterday that Cerritos College's Lemar Gayle (6'-4" So. SG/SF) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Utah State University.
We've been unable to connect with the Utah State official website (something about server trouble on their end) and their SID hasn't yet sent out the official press release, but we'll still count this one as "official" since the announcment was made by the Cerritos JC coaches office.
Gayle was the State JUCO Co-Player of the Year in 1999 and he led the team to a state title. This past season, he averaged more than 20 points per game, set rebounding records at the school and played great defense, as well as holding the record as Cerritos' all-time leading scorer.
