LA Times All-Valley &
All-Ventura
Boys' Teams--(Apr. 5, 2000)
Curious about who made the LA Times All-Valley & All-Ventura County teams? Well don't be, because the first and second team selections were released today. 40 players were selected by the sportswriters at the LA Times (and since we're talking about the Valley, that would principally be Eric Sondheimer, Paige Leech, Mike Bresnahan and a few others). Not surprisingly, the two teams consist entirely of senior and junior players, with one exception, a lone freshman selection. No sophomores were selected to either team. For those interested in the numbers, 25 seniors, 14 juniors and 1 freshman were selected.
The Times' All-Valley First team was led by Vanderbilt-bound Russell Lakey (6'-0" Sr. PG) from Harvard-Westlake, who was chosen as the Valley Player of the Year. Russell averaged 23.1 ppg this season, 5.8 assists, and 3.1 steals per game.
The All-Ventura County First team is led by UC Santa Barbara-signee Branduinn Fullove (6'-5" Sr. SG) from Simi Valley, who was selected as the Ventura County Player of the Year. Branduinn averaged 24.0 ppg, and shot 40.9% from three-point range.
Here are the rest of the selections.
