Cal Poly Pomona Signs
Altamirano & Williams--(Apr. 17, 2000)
Head Coach Tim Rapp of Cal Poly Pomona has announced the signing of two players during the late spring signing period which began April 12. Cal Poly has recieved National Letters of Intent from Jesse Altamirano (6'-7" So. PF) from East LA College and Jonathan Williams (5'-11" Sr. PG) from Pasadena John Muir High School.
Altamirano and Williams are expected to make immediate impacts with a Broncos team that finished the season 18-9 overall and ninth in the west region. It was the best season for a Cal Poly team in 20 years. Altamirano, is a JUCO forward transfer from East LA College, where he was a two-year All-Southcoast Conference honoree. This past season, he was named to the first-team after averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game. He prepped at Whittier's La Serna High School.
Williams led Muir this season, averaging 16 ppg, 6 assists and two steals per game and was named to the All-Pacific Conference First Team and All-San Gabriel Valley Second Team.
The NCAA Basketball late signing period began on April 12 and will continue through May 15
