RSL Top 24 & Top 48
All-Star Game Photos--(Apr. 17, 2000)
We managed to make it over to LA City College for the
final two games of the season at Rockfish Spring League yesterday after spending the
morning at the adidas Double Pump "Super 40" workouts at Cal State Northridge,
for the RSL Top 24 and Top 48 All-Star games, at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.,
respectively. All-Star games being, well, all-star games, it really didn't
make a whole lot of sense to try and keep track of stats and things, because, after all,
these games were about showcasing players. There were a lot of guys who played well,
some more exceptionally well than others. And while we just didn't have the time to
write any individual reviews of player performances, but we did manage to take a bunch of
pictures of both games. Some of these guys are recognizable, and others won't be so
familiar to you. The photos below and on the next page were taken in a particular order,
but when it came time to actually rename them (in order to make them viewable since our
little Sony Mavica gives pics a name with a "-" (dash) in them, which renders
them unreadable by any html browser, so they have to all be renamed. . . .but that's a
different story), they all came out in alphabetical order, which is a lot different than
the sequence of real-life events. . . . In any event, we've posted some small captions as
well as the file name, so hopefully you'll at least be able to identify who's who.
The top 24 game was played first and it was a great game, with both teams playing tough defense, and the score in doubt all the way until the last 4.2 seconds of the game. Not that it matters, but the "White" team won, 96-93. Standouts in that game were Anthony Davis, Solomon Brown, Donald Wilson, Tim Drisdom, Rory O'Neil, Dijon Thompson, Sean Cole, James Jenkins, Bryant Markson, Richard Cobbs, Marco Mihailovic, David Newkirk, Blake Walker, Donovan Morris, Jason Braxton, Tim Drisdom, Wes Wardrop, and the Cravens, Errick and Derrick. There were several no-shows, most notably Ellis Myles, Paul Roby and Russell Lakey.
The top 48 game also featured some solid performances from guys like Cody Pearson, Damon Jenkins, David Gale, Kris Maxey, Kevin Stacey, Levi Steinmetz, Kenny D'Oyen, Kevin Pinckney, Ryan Stacey, Michael Wilds, Adam Zahn (who had some great dunks), Tito Hill, Paul Heredia (who shot 5 three pointers), Josh Dunaj, Peter McCaslin, Nashid Beard, Rasheed Oliver, Daniel Knott, Derrick Andrew and Brandon Robinson.
