Artesia Summer Shootout
Set For 6/27-7/1--(May 24, 2000)

Life evidently goes on.  Notwithstanding the pending investigation into the basketball program at Artesia high school, and the uncertainty about whether Wayne Merino will stay on as the coach of the team, it seems that the old show business saying still rings true:  "The show must go on."  We're talking about "The Artesia Summer Shoot-out".   No, this is not the same as the summer version of the Best in the West Tournament which has been hosted each summer by Artesia, and we're also not quite sure exactly who is running this, but we've received several e-mails about this tournament.

According to the information we've received, the Artesia Summer Shootout will take place June 27th through July 1st.  Invitations have been sent out to teams, and those teams interested in participating should call the school at 562)926-5566 ext. 4356.   The tournament will feature a four (4) game guarantee for $175, which is a very reasonable entry fee.  According to those in charge (again, we don't know who that is), there are several teams already confirmed, including host Artesia, San Bernardino, Crossroads, Compton Centennial, Perris, and several others.
