Rafael Berumen Enrolls At
LA City College--(May 24, 2000)

Rafael Berumen (6'-9" Fr. PF) who transferred from the University of New Mexico this year has officially enrolled at LA City College and will attend classes there this summer and next fall. There had been some speculation that Rafael might commit to either the College of Southern Idaho, a perennial JUCO power, or that he might end up at NAIA power Azusa Pacific University, particularly since his former Simi Valley teammate Brett Michel (6'-6" Sr. SG/SF) has now signed with APU.

Berumen will provide a boost inside and with a nice shooting touch for the Cubs next season who return a number of players from a very talented team.   According to our sources,  several Division I programs have already made inquiries about Rafael and we expect that by the end of next season he'll have a number of options available to him.
