Allan Hancock College announced the signings of three sophmores from the 1999-2000 mens basketball team with various Division I, II and NAIA programs:

Adrian Parks (6'-3" So. G) signed a LOI to Eastern Kentucky University in  Richmond, Kentucky. Adrian averaged over 20 points for two years and was All  State his freshmen year. He originally hails from Dayton, Ohio.  Parks is the sixth signee for head basketball coach Travis Ford and he will be the seventh new scholarship player for the Colonels next season.

Ford announced his first official signee on May 9, with a signed LOI from Rick Jones (6'-1" Fr. PG) the 1999 Kentucky Mr. Basketball who played last season for Vanderbilt University. Jones will transfer to Eastern Kentucky University this fall and will be eligible for the 2001-2002 season, under NCAA Division I transfer rules.  Also joining the Colonels' roster for the 2000-2001 season are Chris Carswell (6'-7" So. PF) from Hiwassee Community College in Madisonville, TN, and Richard Gaston (6'-7" So. PF) from Labette Junior College in Parsons, KS. Last week, Ford also announced the signing of Shawn Fields, a 6-3, 195-pound junior guard who is transferring from the University of Georgia, and Clinton Sims, a 6-3, 195-pound junior guard from St. Catharine (KY) College, to national letters-of-intent. Ford also awarded 6-10 center Tim Volpenhein, who sat out the 1999-2000 season at EKU as a redshirt freshman, a full scholarship to play for the Colonels.  Volpenhein came to Eastern late in the summer of 1999 as a walk-on, practiced all season with the team and dressed for every game last year for the Colonels.  In addition to Parks, keeping up the SoCal connection was the announcement that Ford has also hired two new assistant coaches, Jerry Pelphrey and Chad Dollar.  Chad, 27,  is the brother of UCLA former player Cameron Dollar who helped lead the Bruins to the National Championship in 1995, and who is now an assistant at St. Louis under former UCLA assistant and Pepperdine head coach Lorenzo Romar, who is now the head coach for the Billikens.
