6:00 p.m. tip-off for the All-Star Game
Where: University of California Riverside PE Gym (Old Gym)
Who: Top Seniors From the Inland Empire Region
Our friends Keith Howard and Julius Patterson of IEBP wanted us to spread the word about the 1st Annual "Best of The Inland All-Star Classic" which will take place this Sunday at UC Riverside. The event which features some of the top seniors in the Southern Section, including many top college signees and other unsigned prospects.
While the organizers had originally planned to stage underclassmen game (with an original start time of 4:40 p.m.) the organizers decided (consistent with CIF bylaws), to forego the requirements necessary to qualify such an underclassmen game (for which no admission can be charged, and because it would have required clearing the gym and then readmitting everyone, at the possible risk of violation of Rule 900, they've decided to just hold the senior game this year). The All-Star senior game will be preceded by slam dunk and three point shooting contests, and the seniors will then take the floor at 7:00 p.m. for the game. At least that's the schedule we have.
Among those participating will be Justin Garcia (7'-1" Sr. C) from Jurupa Valley who has signed with Northern Arizona, Jeremiah Phillips (6'-6" Sr. PF) who has signed with Pt. Loma Nazarene College, David Joiner from Rialto HS who has signed with Sacramento State, De Marcus Williams from Upland who has signed with the University of Washington, Vili Morton from Twentynine Palms who has signed with UC Riverside, Chris Smith from Pacific and Ryan Dillon from Victor Valley who both just signed with Fullerton, Lemar Ruffin from Chaparral who signed with Coppin State last fall, and a number of other players.
Here's a modified version of the press release we received the other day from the event organizers (modified to delete the info related to the underclassmen game).
