Sobotka Completes Men's Basketball
Recruiting With Signing of Lang
Six new signees for 2000-01.

May 4, 2000

Portland, Ore. - Portland State Head Basketball Coach Joel Sobotka has announced the signing of Felix Lang to a National Letter of Intent for the 2000-01 academic year. Lang is the sixth recruit to sign with the Vikings for the coming season, and completes PSU's recruiting for the spring.

Lang, a 6-3 guard, was a teammate of previous signee Jerrohn Jordan at Los Angeles Valley JC the past two seasons. Lang was the Western States Conference Player of the Year after averaging 18.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The junior-to-be was one of 22 players named JC All-State for California among 110 teams. An outstanding shooter, Lang shot 54.5% from the field last season, and 41.2% from three-point range.

"Felix is a skilled shooter and scorer, and he can score in a number of ways, whether it be from the outside or putting it on the floor," Coach Sobotka said. "His maturity and leadership will help us right away."

"We are excited to have a second player join us from L.A. Valley Junior College. Coach Doug Michelson has a great program and we know his players are very fundamentally sound."

Lang joins five other players who have signed letters of intent at Portland State, and brings the team roster to 13 for 2000-01. The Vikings are coming off a 15-14 season in 1999-2000.

"We look at this recruiting class as a group that can come in and really compete right away. Along with our redshirts Dony Wilcher, Jabbar Washington and Jelani Williams we have a great group of new players for next season," Sobotka said.
