Glen McGowan Reportedly
Signs With Pepperdine--(May 1, 2000)

We've been following the progress of Glenn McGowan (6'-8" Postgrad SG/SF) for the past three and a half years, first at Venice High School where he grew an amazing 6 inches in one year to his latest year spent at Notre Dame Academy, a prep school in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. We last saw Glenn last month at the Pump Easter Tournament where he was playing with the H-Squad for a few games, and at that time, he told us that he was getting some offers, but mostly from schools on the east coast. We bumped into his former Venice high school coach, David Goosen, this past Saturday at the Amateur Athletic Foundation awards ceremony for the LA City Section and Southern Section All-CIF selections , and Dave told us that Glenn had received several scholarship offers, including one from Pepperdine. Apparently Glenn made up his mind yesterday, and he has reportedly signed an LOI selecting the Waves over a host of other schools, including the University of Buffalo, Providence, La Salle and Wright State.

Glenn is an excellent get for the Waves. He has good size, excellent mobility and in the past year seems to have outgrown his foot problems which plagued him the last two years of high school, the result of his rapid growth between his sophomore and junior seasons. Glenn is an outstanding three point shooter, who has the speed and agility to be a slasher and a good rebounder as well as a great outside shooter.

We have also heard several reports that with Glenn's signing that may "signal" that one of Pepperdine's other signees, either Michael Hall (6'-3" Sr. SG) or Will Kimble (6'-8" Sr. PF) might not have achieved eligibility and/or admission to Pepperdine. We believe those reports are in error though and sources close to both Hall and Kimble tell us that they are fully qualified, as is Micah McKinney (6'-2" Sr. PG) from Compton Dominguez. With the signing of McGowan, Pepperdine should have one more scholarship remaining, by our count.
