Moorpark JC Sends Four To
Four Year Schools--(May 16, 2000)

Since we're on the subject lately of JUCO signings, our friends out at Moorpark College thought we should know about the guys who have signed with Division I schools this year.  We've already reported on each of these signings individually as they occurred (at least we think we got them all at the time), but it's always nice to see it all in one place at one time. Here's a short press release that we just received from Howard Davis, Moorpark's Assistant Men's basketball coach:

MOORPARK CAPS HISTORY-MAKING SEASON WITH FOUR SIGNINGS

Moorpark College capped its history-making season (most wins in school  history with 27, farthest in tournament--state semifinals) with all four of  its sophomores in the rotation receiving scholarships to four-year institutions.

"We are very pleased for these young men. They are going into really good  situations for each of them," said Head Coach Remy McCarthy. "These young men elevated our program to new heights with their commitment and dedication. They are fine people as well as excellent basketball players. They are the embodiment of what we want our program to be."

Dan Galvanoni, guard from Capo Valley HS, signed with Fairfield University  in Connecticut. Galvanoni led the Raiders in scoring with an 18.6 average and was First Team All-Western States Conference and First Team All-State.

OJ Thomas, a guard from Channel Islands HS, signed with NCAA Division II National Champion Metro State, where he will play for Mike Dunlap. Thomas  was third in the state in assists with 8.1 per game. He was First Team All-WSC.

Kenny Plummer, a 6-5 post man from Manhattan Center HS in Harlem, NY, signed with Montana State University. Plummer was named First Team All-WSC.

Alan Case, 6-4 swimgman from South Lake Tahoe HS, signed with Chico State.  Case averaged 10.2 points per game. He was referred to as "the X-factor" for the Raiders by McCarthy. "When Al played well we were hard to beat."

Thomas, Plummer and Case were two-year starters for Moorpark. Galvanoni  played only this season for the Raiders, after transferring from the University of Nevada, Reno.
