Chris Smith Signs LOI With
Cal State Fullerton--(May 1, 2000)

We received an e-mail yesterday morning from Scott Smith, the head boys basketball coach at San Bernardino Pacific High School, confirming that Chris Smith (5'-9" Sr. PG) has signed a letter of intent following his on-campus visit to Cal State Fullerton.  The news was also carried this morning in a story written by Lon Eubanks, an LA Times Staff Writer.

Smith is a talented point guard who until recently was overlooked by many of the area schools.  Apparently new Titans' coach Donny Daniels like what he saw, and offered Smith on his visit to the campus.  Smith averaged 19.1 points, 10.5 assists and five steals this past season, leading the Pacific Pirates to a 27-3 record and a trip to the Southern Section Division I-A semifinals.

"He's a very good ballhandler and averaged about 2 1/2 turnovers a game,"  Scott Smith told Eubanks on Friday. "He seemed to get better last season the better the competition. He averaged 23 points in the playoffs."

Chris Smith is the second signee at Fullerton this season and last week Ryan Dillon from Victor Valley High signed.  Smith is also the third signee for Pacific this year.  The others are Will Kimble (6'-8" Sr. PF) and Michael Hall (6'-3" Sr. SG) who both signed with Pepperdine.
