Latest Unconfirmed High School
Transfer Rumors--(May 15, 2000)

The following rumors are just that, "rumors". . . . they are completely unsubstantiated.  But they are persistent rumors that we've been hearing for months. And while with much of this, it might as well be April 1st instead of May 15th, and while we haven't verified any of this by talking to any of the individuals involved, or their parents, we have it from some pretty reliable sources that this is what will happen with a number of high profile players over the summer and next fall.

Shaun Michel (6'-2" Jr. PG) from Simi Valley is reportedly transferring to Mater Dei.

Wesley Washington (6'-2" Fr. SG) from Fontana is reportedly looking in to transferring to Mater Dei.

Travante Nelson (5'-10" Fr. PG) from Fontana is reportedly going to re-enroll at Mater Dei. Travante had originally enrolled at Mater Dei last summer and was accepted, but then transferred to Fontana where he joined up with his former SCA teammates Washington and Trayvon Williams (who may or may not transfer from Fontana; we've heard nothing about that yet).

Pat Haddan (6'-2" Jr. PG) will reportedly transfer from Mater Dei to Woodbridge;

Josh Childress (6'-6" Jr. SG/SF) will not transfer from Mayfair to Mater Dei.

Tyson Chandler (7'-0" Jr. C) will stay at Dominguez in an attempt to win a second consecutive National Championship and a third consecutive Division II State Title.

All of the foreign-born players from Artesia are gone.   Amaury Fernandez (6'-9" Jr. PF), Jack Martinez (6'-9" Jr. PF) and Franklin Matos (6'-3" So. PG) have returned to the Dominican;  Jon Steffanson (6'-5" So. SG) has returned to his native Iceland.

We've heard many other rumors, most of them not worth repeating.  There will be more news of high school transfers in the next few months, of that you can be sure.
