Craven Twins Reportedly
Close To Committing--(June 28, 2000)

No, we haven't spoken yet with either Errick or Derrick about this, but several of our reliable sources have indicated that twin guards Errick Craven (6'-2" Sr. SG/PG) and Derrick Craven (6'-2" Sr. PG/SG) are close to making a commitment to USC, and may do so within the next few days.  The twins are set to take a visit to USC and several of those same reliable sources believe that they may commit during the visit.  The twins have said publicly that they are no longer receiving calls from UCLA, where they had taken two unofficial visits earlier this spring,   and likewise with the commitment of Chris Hernandez (6'-2" Sr. PG) from Clovis West two weeks ago to Stanford, their options to play together as a package deal in the Pac-10, particularly anywhere close to home (at least close enough where their family can see home games) are becoming more limited all the time. USC, Cal, and Arizona State would appear to be the frontrunners at this point, and we would say Cal is a real longshot and may not want to use two scholarships for essentially the same position.  With Brandon Brooks not receiving a qualifying score on his SAT, he will likely attend prep school next fall and then reopen his recruiting, and ASU will still have room for the twins and Brandon next year.    And while the Cravens may not be adverse to going away to school (they've also said they would consider the Oregon schools),  we would expect that if they are offered by the Trojans that they will commit.   Stay tuned. . .
