PS Summer Classics: 1st Of 4 Girls'

We just heard from Randy Small of Palm Springs HS, who wanted to let us know that the Palm Springs Summer Classic Series, an 8 week extravaganza of 4 boys' tournaments and 4 girls' tournaments will get started this weekend with the first of the girls' tournaments, to be followed next weekend with a competitive boys' tournament (more about that shortly).
Here are the first round matchups for this weekend's Girls 32-team tournament at Palm Springs High School:

The tournament will be in the usual double-bracket format with the first game determining whether a team advances to the winner's bracket, or drops into the consolation bracket. The tournament will continue through Sunday afternoon with the championship rounds. Of course for a lot of us, we'll be staying here in LA to watch the LA Watts Summer Games and some of the other stuff going on around town, but for those out in the Desert area who want to see some great girls' hoops, this is going to be an excellent tournament.
