SCIBCA Blue Divsion--East Bracket
Results From Friday--(June 10, 2000)

We didn't get many results from the first day of the SCIBCA Summer 2000 Tip-Off Tournament, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of basketball going on all over SoCal.  With 92 teams in action, and everyone playing in the first round yesterday (with only a few notable exceptions where there were first round bye's due to graduation ceremonies, final exams and other senioritis), we can't possibly hope to keep track of it all.  Fortunately, some of our friends kept track of a few games, very late last night we received an e-mail from one of our friends out in the desert (aka Palm Sprngs/Cathedral City), who let us know what happened out in the Blue Division-East Bracket:

Here are Friday's results from the Blue Division-East bracket, hosted by Cathedral City. First, thanks go to Palm Springs, and coach Randy Small, for the use of their gym, made necessary by a Senior party taking place at   Cathedral City...

4:30 game- West Valley 54, Palm Springs 43-- Leading West Valley was Diesel Neveraz, with 17 points, 3 for 3 from the line. Palm Springs was led by Antonio Greer with 15 points, 3 for 3 from the line, and Joe Johnson with 10 points, 2 for 2 from the line.

5:30 game- Cathedral City 35, Twentynine Palms 18--John Cooley of 29 Palms had 7 points, while Cathedral City was led by Gerald DeVance with 10 points, 3 of 4 from the line.

6:30 game- Palm Springs 43, Twentynine Palms 30--Palm Springs was again led by Antonio Greer with 12 points, 6 of 7 FT's, and Caleb Barton with 11 points, 5 of 7 FT's. 29 Palms leading scorer was Ken Randle with 8 points, 2 of 3 FT's.

7:30 game- Cathedral City 69, West Valley 30--Featured a rematch of West Valley of Hemet and Cathedral City, who faced each other in 1997s IIIAA Southern Section Championship. West Valley was led by Antwone Jackson with 10 points, and Joe Roquemore with 9. Cathedral City scoring was balanced, with Thomas Shewmake (who did not play in the 5:30 game) leading the way with 21 points including 6 of 6 FT's, Jeff Lambert with 12 points, 2 of 2 FT's, Paul Heredia with 10 points, 4 of 5 FT's, and Gerald DeVance with 10 points, 2 of 2 FT's. Cathedral City moves on to play at Glendora tomorrow.
