adidas Double Pump Best of Summer

There are close to 130 teams at the adidas Double Pump Best of Summer, and three teams participating (or at least listed as participating) are from Nevada. The Las Vegas Rebels didn't show for their first game so we don't know if they're going to play this weekend or not. But there are two other teams for sure participating, and they are both excellent teams, who practice and play together. We had a chance to see the Carson BB Club (from Carson/Reno) last night against the Double Pump All Stars, and it was an exciting game. Behind the fundamentally sound shooting of Karl Aaker, David Woods and Matt Alleman, and tremendous post play from the young David Padgett, Carson managed to jump out to a 23 point lead by the middle of the first half as the Double Pump frontline of Jason Carter and Dustin Villepigue wasn't able to stop either the inside post moves of Padgett and their inside outside game. Carson led by 17 at the half, but Double Pump, going "small" with a lineup of all guards for the first 7 minutes of the half pulled even with Carson, but in the end, Double Pump was unable to pull out the win and they lost by a single point. Alex Gamboa and Chris Carr played the point for Carson and they were matched by David Gale and Bakari Altheimer, but the big scoring for both teams was out on the wing with Aaker bombing them in, and Double Pumps' Justin Burns (also a Nevada prospect) leading all scorers with 27 points.
