SoCalHoops Tournament News
Glendale Tournament Day 1 Results,
Day 2 Schedules--(July 7, 2000)
What:1st Annual Glendale Summer Tip Off
Tournament
When: July 6-9, 2000
Where: Glendale City College
Who: 16 SoCal HS Teams
The 1st Annual Vaqueros Glendale CC Summer Tip-Off Tournament is taking place from July 6-9 at Glendale City College (just get to the 2 Freeway, either from the 5 or the 134, and exit at Mountain Avenue, turn down the hill--you can only go one way-- and you're there. . . ). The tournament features 16 local teams, many of whom also played either at the War on the Floor, or like Compton Centennial, at the Carson Summer Classic last week,
Not only did the guys running this thing (the Glendale CC coaching staff) send us results in the form of scores, they also sent us a box score for each game (wow. . . what about the other stats? No rebounds, shot percentages, steals, assists? C'mon guys, get that old DynaSport out of the closet. . . ) Actually, we're just kidding, and in the years we've been reporting on tournaments, this is actually the first and only time that anyone running a tournament has ever seen fit to send us the box scores by e-mail (ok, the Reebok Holiday Classic used to do stats, but they haven't for the past two years). . . . Anyway, we're impressed.
Here's what happened yesterday:
10:45 a.m. |
Compton Centennial 62, Burbank 30 |
11:55 a.m. |
Glendale 60, Valley All Stars 46 |
1:05 p.m. |
Grant 49, Chatsworth 42 |
2:15 p.m. |
Notre Dame 47, Granada Hills 44 |
3:25 p.m. |
Taft 46, Hoover 49 |
4:35 p.m. |
Monroe 48, Alhmabra 39 |
5:45 p.m. |
Harvard Westlake 53, Kennedy 43 |
6:55 p.m. |
Sylmar 53, Poly 41 |
We're not sure the times of the games below are correct (since no one sent us a correct schedule, and we're guessing based on the order of matchups which was printed in the Daily News) but we think it looks like this:
10:45 a.m. |
Burbank v. Valley All Stars |
11:55 a.m. |
Glendale v. Compton Centennial |
1:05 p.m. |
Chatsworth v. Granada Hils |
2:15 p.m. |
Grant v. Notre Dame |
3:25 p.m. |
Taft v. Alhambra |
4:35 p.m. |
Hoover v. Monroe |
5:45 p.m. |
Kennedy v. Poly |
6:55 p.m. |
Harvard Westlake v. Sylmar |
