Camps: Rim Rattler Now At Lynwood HS,
Not Long Beach CC--(July 5, 2000)

What:

Rim Rattler All*West Camp

Where:

Lynwood HS

4050 East Imperial Hwy, Lynwood, CA

When:

July 11 through 13, 2000

Who:

240 top players, many D-I coaches

We spoke with Dinos Trigonis late today and he asked us to again get the word out to everyone that there's been a change of location for this year's Rim Rattler Camp, which will be at Lynwood HS, not at Long Beach City College. Dinos also noted that this year's camp will likely have about 240 players, including many of the local SoCal region's own  homegrown top players.   Although Dinos has previously posted some "intended player" lists at the Fullcourt Press website, he said those lists will be substantially revised and he promised to get us a new list with actual confirmation of players who will or are likely to attend.    However, without receiving the list, we feel pretty confident in predicting that Rim Rattlers will have Dijon Thompson, Keith Ellison, Cody Pearson, Ruben Sanchez, Kenny Hauser, Matt Llewellyn, Chad Bell, Tyson Chandler, Darius Sanders, Hassan Adams, Keith Everage, Evan Burns, Craig Smith, Markee White, and many, many other top local players.

The camp will run from July 11-13th, and will end one day earlier than the Double Pump West Coast All-Stars' second session, which is at Cal State Dominguez Hills, and which runs from July 10-14.   The format for both camps now look a lot more similar in structure. . . Rim Rattler in its first couple of years was more about playing games only in the afternoon and evenings, perhaps reflecting the fact that about 90% of the participants will be commuting to and from the camp, and many of them will also be attending summer school.   In contrast, the Pump Camps feature morning station drills and skill clinics while the early afternoon is reserved for an hour for a speaker and then games from 2:00 until about 5:00 p.m., and then more games form  7:00 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m. each night.   In any event, here's the Rim Rattler All-West Camp Schedule for this year:

Both camps will have tons of division I coaches in attendance and given the new-found proximity of both camps (Domginguez Hills is on the southwestern edge of Compton, whereas Lynwood is just to the northeast of Compton, in the City of Lynwood.)

In any event, we'll be doing a lot of driving back and forth so you'll have lots of reports from both camps throughout the next week.   And as always, if you have any questions or need further information about the Rim Rattler, you can contact Dinos at (310) 669-2307 or (562) 901-8592.  And in case you need directions to the camp, here's a map:
