Bakersfield's Marquese Jingles
To JUCO At CCSF--(August 22, 2000)

Some may view this as somewhat obscure news, but working our way down the State of California, figuratively speaking (see our prior article on Fresno's Deshawn Stevenson) we also came across a little item in the Bakersfield Daily Californian, which carried a report this past Sunday about Bakersfield East High graduate Marquese Jingles, who will attend City College of San Francisco this year, with the intention of moving up to D-I in two years. Jingles, who was a Bakersfield second-team "All-Area" selection as a senior in 1999 at East High attended Bakersfield College last year but sat out. He previously committed to play at College of the Sequoias, but changed his mind at the last minute and didn't play, and instead just worked out with his former high school teammates. He will have two years of D-I eligibility after he receives his AA degree. In his senior season at Bakersfield East, Jingles averaged 18.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 4.3 apg and he hit 45 of 108 3-pointers (42 percent).
