Jason Carter Commits To Colorado--(Sept. 22, 2000)
The Sporting News and several other sources announced yesterday that Jason Carter (6'-9" Sr. PF) from Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas, who was first offered by University of Colorado head coach Ricardo Patton last summer at the adidas Double Pump Best of Summer Tournament, has committed to play for the Buffaloes next season.
According to an AP wire story, Carter told Patton on Tuesday that he will sign a letter of intent with Colorado in November. Carter canceled trips to Minnesota, Oregon, Villanova and Texas-El Paso after visiting Boulder last weekend. Michigan State, Southern California, UCLA, New Mexico and Nevada-Las Vegas also had shown interest in him over the summer. Jason had also been planning on coming to LA this weekend to play for one of the Pump teams, but he and his cousin, Justin Burns (6'-7" Sr. SG/SF) also of Bishop Gorman, who remains uncommitted, decided to stay in Vegas this weekend. Carter was an all-state junior at BG last year, averaging about 14 points, 12.5 rebounds and three blocks per game, and led BG to the Nevada 4A title, in which he scored 21 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
