Pacifica HS Premier 2000 Tourney
Set for 11/28-12/2--(Oct. 29, 2000)

Wow, just ask for some info, and it comes rolling in. . . . We're not sure if there was any connection,  but sometimes our SoCalHoops message board really does work for the purpose we intended, i.e., conveying useful information about tournaments and games.  In this case, someone posted a message this afternoon, asking about the Pacifica Premier 2000 Tournament, one of the early season tournaments.  We honestly knew nothing about it. . . but someone out there did, and they Sean Gurnea, President of the Pacific Boosters' Club came across the message, and responded.   So here's what we now know:

The "Pacifica Premier 2000" Tournament will be held from November 28 through December 2 at Pacifica High School, and it will be sponsored by "Team Athletics" . . .no idea, but you can call them and find out what it is they do and/or sell at 1-800-490-TEAM (8326).

But now that the shameless plug is out of the way for the sponsor, this will be an 8-team tournament featuring all Southern Section teams.   It will be pool play for the first three days with the playoff round on Saturday, December 2.  We also have a complete schedule and the pool assignments.  Here are the pool assignments:

La Sierra	Edison

Tuesday, November 28th
3:30PM	South Gate vs, Artesia
5:00PM	Cabrillo vs. La Sierra

8:00PM	Pacifica vs. Century
Wednesday, November 29th
3:30PM	Artesia vs. Edison
5:00PM	Century vs. La Sierra
6:30PM	South Gate vs, University

Friday, December 1st

P.S.  We also took a look at the Pacifica HS website, and honest to goodness, we found the following four photos, all apparently taken in the Pacifica HS gym during the first year the school was opened (1965) and preserved for posterity in their 1965 High School yearbook.  Apparently the Lakers with Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and a bunch of donkeys played an exhibition game at the school. . . .Just kidding. These were actually two separate events. But we can't help wonder whether the guys on donkeys weren't on to something. . . .
