USC's Bluthenthal, Hutchinson
Both Out With Injuries--(Oct. 18, 2000)
Just when things were looking up for the Trojans. . . . The Associated Press is reporting tonight that David Bluthenthal, the Trojans' leading rebounder last season at 8.3 per game, will be out for 2-to-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to remove cartilage in his right knee. USC coach Henry Bibby also told reporters on Wednesday that Robert Hutchinson, a junior college transfer expected to be a backup guard, will also miss approximately three weeks due to a fractured little finger on his right hand. The Trojans open the regular season against Bradley at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Nov. 18. Bluthenthal, who averaged 13.9 points, started all but one of the Trojans' 30 games as a sophomore last season.
