Fox Commits To Arizona--(Nov. 15, 2000)
Just yesterday we referred to some news we learned by reading Greg Hicks' article at PacWestHoops. The story was about Isaiah Fox (6'-9" Sr. PF) from Santa Monica Crossroads, and whether he would wait until spring, or commit somewhere during the remaining few days of the fall signing period. Greg quoted Isaiah as saying that even if he were offered by Arizona, a school he's always wanted to attend (Isaiah's father, Nils was a standout football player for Arizona), he'd wait until spring.
My, my, how quickly things change. Apparently, after Fox spoke with Hicks, he must have received a call from the Arizona coaches, and according to a story at CatTracks, Fox has decided to make it official for Arizona: He says he was offered, and has accepted, and will be a Wildcat next season.
Doug Carr quotes Fox as saying: "I'm going to commit to Arizona.. . . Coach (Rodney) Tention called me last night," Fox told Carr. "I always wanted to go (to Arizona). Since I was younger I dreamed of playing for the Wildcats."
Carr says that Fox will sign a National Letter of Intent during the fall period. If that's going to happen it will have to be today, November 15, 2000, because it's the "last day" of the early fall signing period (and the NLI grace period which permits a player to sign his NLI up to 14 days after it is issued by the school (at least according to the NLI website) does not appear to apply to the early signing period. . . . .
