Santa Barbara's Dommanic Ingerson
Signs NLI With Michigan--(Nov. 14, 2000)
More signing news: This was officially reported by Michigan two days ago, but once again, better late than never: Dommanic Ingerson signed his National Letter of Intent with Michigan, and whether Brian Ellerbee remains the coach for the Wolverines or not after this season, Ingerson will enroll at Ann Arbor next fall. Here's the official press release announcing the signing, as well as three other players (Chuck Bailey (6'-7" Sr. F) from Detroit, Kelly Whitney (6'-8" Sr. F) from Chicago, and JaQuan Hart (6'-6" Sr. G) from Flint, Michigan):
Wolverines Ink Four During Early Signing Period
November 12, 2000ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's basketball program has received National Letters of Intent from four student-athletes during the November early signing period. Joining the Wolverines for the 2001-02 season will be: Chuck Bailey, a 6-7, 195, forward from Detroit, Mich.; JaQuan Hart, a 6-6, 170 guard from Flint, Mich.; Dommanic Ingerson, a 6-3, 185, guard from Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Kelly Whitney, a 6-8, 220 forward from Chicago, Ill.
"We are very excited about this class," said Michigan head coach Brian Ellerbe. "They, without question, will help this basketball program. All four young men are quality people and excellent students who will fit into this program with ease.
"Chuck is a diamond in the rough. He is a major league athlete with a tremendous upside. So is Kelly. He has a huge, huge upside. He's a very, very good offensive and defensive rebounder and has a tremendous wing span. We expect him to become a great shot blocker when he gets on campus.
"JaQuan is the closest thing to a type of player that Jamal Crawford was. He's very difficult to guard because he is so versatile. He is just so fundamentally sound. He possesses all the skills you look for. Dommanic is like JaQuan. He's a very, very good guard with outstanding fundamentals. He is physically strong enough to play collegiate basketball now so that will help him when he gets here next fall."
The Wolverines still have one scholarship remaining for the 2001-02 season. Michigan loses only one scholarship player after this season in senior forward Josh Asselin.
