Bell-Jeff To Host Memorial Game
For Fallen Player--( Nov. 28, 2000)
We got an e-mail last night from Bell-Jeff Coach Eli Essa, and we didn't want to let the day go by without posting something about an event which will take place tonight at Bell-Jeff, a memorial game which will be played tonight between two schools where Lawrence Jenkins attended and between two teams that he played on before he died suddenly last year. The memorial game will be played tonight at 7:30 p.m. to honor the memory of Lawrence Jenkins, who formerly attended Bell-Jeff and played there, before transferring to Ribet. On November 29, 1999, Jenkins collapsed suddenly during a practice, and died. An autopsy revealed Jenkins suffered a blockage of a major artery that supplies blood to the heart. Those wishing to honor the memory of Jenkins are welcome to attend the game. Lawrence's family will be in attendance, and his younger brother will be playing for the Ribet JV team in a contest which is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
